Notice from Guildford Borough Council

November 22nd 2019

A notice from Guildford Borough Council.

As you are aware, there have been some delays in the execution of a recent enabling works contract, which has resulted in the contractor demobilising from site.

In recent months, Guildford Borough Council has been working closely with Mildren Construction Ltd (contractor), our designers and external agencies to develop a buildable solution for the southern site boundary adjoining the rear gardens. This has proven challenging as explained, but we are pleased to announce we have developed a solution and obtained approval from the Planning Authority.

The Solution

The retaining structure is required to support the widening of the site access road. This structure will be built using sheet piles, that will be installed using a silent piling methodology, to help minimise the disturbance. We will install a mesh fence at the top of the embankment, with climbing and cascading plants that in time will provide screening. Please click the image below for the PDF version.

When will the works start?

The proposed recommencement date for the enabling works is w/c 13th January 2020. It is estimated that these works will continue until the end of May 2020. Mildren Construction Ltd will write to all local residents later this year to confirm the new start date, and provide a summary of the programming for the remaining works.
